Yesterday morning OpenAI release their much anticipated iOS app for ChatGPT. Apple restricts the use of ChatGPT
Apple has raised concerns about employees using large language models, such as ChatGPT, due to the potential release of confidential data. The company has prohibited the use of Microsoft-owned GitHub's Copilot and highlighted the risk of unintentionally sharing proprietary information. OpenAI temporarily took ChatGPT offline in March after a bug exposed chat history titles. OpenAI introduced a feature allowing users to disable chat history to prevent training the AI model on that data. Apple, led by AI executive John Giannandrea, is developing its own large language models.

Meta Platforms Reveals AI Chip Project and Data Center Upgrades to Support AI Work
Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has revealed new details about its data center projects aimed at enhancing support for artificial intelligence (AI) work. The company is developing a custom chip "family" in-house as part of its Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) program. The first-generation chip, designed in 2020, focuses on improving efficiency for recommendation models used in serving ads and content on news feeds. Initially, Meta relied on graphics processing units (GPUs) for AI inference tasks but found them inadequate, leading to the development of MTIA. The MTIA chip demonstrated efficiency in handling low- and medium-complexity AI models and utilized only 25 watts of power. Meta also discussed plans to redesign its data centers with modern AI-oriented networking and cooling systems, aiming for cost-effectiveness and faster construction. The company mentioned its AI-powered system to assist engineers in creating computer code, similar to tools offered by Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet.

How to get ChatGPT to write text that sounds like you
By now you are all aware of ChatGPTs ability (and many other generative AI tools) to generate text for you. Whether it’s a poem about the beauty of your amor or a report on the rise a fall of great civilizations, ChatGPT can generate some truly intricate and well written prose for you. However, it all kinda sounds the same, and if we are using ChatGPT to better increase OUR productivity, shouldn’t the text generated sound like we wrote it and not some bot on the internet?! I think so too. Accomplishing this is actually pretty easy, with just a few prompts and some samples of your Pulitzer-prize winning writings, you’ll be all set. Let’s take see how it’s done.
The first step is to have ChatGPT analyze your writing style. Simply ask as follows.

Here I’ve asked ChatGPT to learn my writing style and I gave it a sample of my writing (a previous edition of this newsletter). ChatGPT responds with it’s thoughtful and highly flattering analysis.

Oh ChatGPT, you’re too kind. 😊 Now, we simply need to ask it to generate text using our style. You could paste in more text and ask for a summary or you could just ask it to write a paragraph about the benefits of exercise on mental health. Whatever sounds interesting to you. I’ll ask it to generate a summary of this TechCrunch article regarding the recent Supreme Court decision on Section 230. Notice that I also provided additional requirements for the length of the output, 5 sentences or fewer. You could provide any requirements you like, such as 10 bullet points, or 3 paragraphs, etc.

…and the response.

Not bad at all! With just a few steps you can have ChatGPT not just working for you, but sounding like you too! Try it out and have fun, and for extra credit, which summaries of the articles written above were written with ChatGPT and which did I write myself?! 🤣 Have a great weekend folks!
